Well, it's Father's Day. A little over 15 years ago my Father passed away and we still miss him. He was a great man and a wonderful (if not perfect) Father. He had his flaws like us all. He smoked in the car even with us kids in the car (the Nanny State probably will take a kid away for something like that in the future) and he disciplined us (another Nanny State No No), but he loved us and gave us everything we needed (Key word here, NEED, not wanted) It would take too much time to talk about all the great things about my Dad, but I will relay one story. While going to college, my Mom and Dad could not afford to help with the expenses, but Dad would always find creative ways to send food my way as he knew I was living on about $5 a week for food and groceries. When I would come home as I did many weekends and then get ready to head back, I would find my Father calling me into the kitchen when Mom wasn't there and he would half-way scold my Mom. "Look a there," he would say. "I can't believe your Mom bought 2 packs of bologna. Here you take one back to school. 3 loafs of bread, what was your Mom thinking. Here you take one." The thing you have to know is my Dad usually did the shopping. Finally, thank you, Dad, for giving me a good image of a Father. It makes my understanding of my Heavenly Father much easier. He (and you) want whats best for us. Not just what is good, but what is excellent. I look forward to the day I reunite with my earthly Father and rejoice with my Heavenly Father. Happy Father's Day Everyone. ;o)
