Boyle County Schools Among State Elite

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: Maureen Elwyn, maureen.elwyn@boyle.kyschools.us
Boyle district again scores Distinguished,
high school, Perryville Elementary Distinguished

Boyle County Schools has been designated a Distinguished School District for the second consecutive year, based on the latest K-PREP state accountability scores.
Boyle ranks 10th out of all K-12 Kentucky districts, scoring in the 96th percentile, placing Boyle in the top 4% of Kentucky districts.
Boyle County High School scored a Distinguished rating, scoring in the 95th percentile, the top 5% of Kentucky high schools.
Perryville Elementary, ranking Distinguished for the second consecutive year, placed in the 92nd percentile, the top 8% of Kentucky elementary schools.
Junction City Elementary, Woodlawn Elementary, and Boyle County Middle School scored Proficient, making the Boyle district one of only 14 in state to have all schools score Proficient or Distinguished.
"I am delighted but not surprised at our Distinguished district ranking again this year, because on our visits to schools we see teachers following through with the Boyle County Schools Blueprint that outlines Best Practices for teaching and learning,” said Superintendent Mike LaFavers."We are very proud of our teachers, support staff, and our students who have earned this recognition. What matters most, of course, is that Boyle County students are acquiring essential skills to be successful in life.”
Assistant Superintendent David Young said,"Achieving a Distinguished ranking two years in a row confirms that we not only know what we are doing, but that we are clear regarding what we need to do to ensure we can continue this high level of performance to benefit our students. Of course, this level of success cannot happen without supportive family members who attend school events and ensure students are ready to learn.
"The bottom line,” said Young,"is that we are not teaching the test. We are teaching the core content skills necessary for college, workplace, and career readiness. No one should question that mission. The data clearly reveals what students know. We also want to thank community members who share our vision and support us in many ways.”
Kentucky’s accountability system (K-PREP) gives schools a better look than ever at how they meet each child’s needs. Students are tested on more rigorous standards than before using a test that is more difficult than KCCT, the previous test. Schools receive and are held accountable for scores in a variety of areas. For instance, schools have always been held accountable for the achievement of all students and the performances of"gap” students – those who have a disability, qualify for free/reduced lunch, or are part of a minority group. Those measures are still true in K-PREP.
In addition, K-PREP includes scores which measure how well students have grown academically over the past year as compared to their peers, how many students are ready for college or a career, and how many students who enter Boyle County Schools graduate on time.

This was shared with me and I had to share with others. We should never forget those who fought for our Freedom and what is Right. Liberty must always be defended or will eventually be lost.

Dear Legislators,

This is just another program that Inter-County and 15 other Cooperatives sponsor each year. We sent 25 WWII and Korean veterans to Washington DC on the Honor Flight this past Saturday. One of the men interviewed, Arthur Crain from Perryville, was specifically sponsored by Inter-County and you see him numerous time in the video. This is our third year of sponsoring this flight. Click on the link below, which was featured on Channel 27 in Lexington last night in their newscast.

New Climate Study Rejects IPCC's Conclusions

New Climate Study Rejects IPCC’s Conclusions
By Alec Torres
September 18, 2013 12:42 PM
On Tuesday, an international panel of scientists and scholars released a report contradicting the findings of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), often considered the authority on the matter. The panel, called the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) cites thousands of peer-reviewed articles that the IPCC reportedly ignores and found"no empirical evidence . . . to substantiate the claim that 2 [degrees Celsius] of warming presents a threat to planetary ecologies or environments,” one finding of the IPCC’s work. They also found no evidence that"a warming will be more economically costly than an equivalent cooling,” another tenet of the IPCC. The NIPCC was founded"to present a comprehensive, authoritative, and realistic assessment of the science and economics of global warming” and to provide a counterweight to the U.N.’s IPCC."Because it’s not a government agency and because its members are not predisposed to believe climate change is caused by human greenhouse gas emissions, NIPCC is able to offer an independent ‘second opinion’ of the evidence reviewed – or not reviewed – by the . . . IPCC,” their website says. The organization argues:
The high regard that the IPCC claims for itself is undeserved. Numerous writers have documented the strong bias of its founders and principals, its determination to find a human role in climate change almost without regard to what the data show, and the corrupting role that politics has played in the organization’s history. And yet, every new article, book, or presentation made by a skeptical scientist or economist, no matter how distinguished, is met with the nearly rote response that"the consensus of scientists” as represented by the IPCC had already settled the issue, and"the scientific debate is over.” The authors of the NIPCC’s latest report, Craig D. Idso, Robert M. Carter, and S. Fred Singer, call their work, which rejects the IPCC’s methodology,"comprehensive, objective, and faithful to the scientific method.” They found that"if the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide were to double ,” as is projected,"[the] warming [that] may occur would likely be modest and cause no net harm to the global environment or to human well-being.” A 2-degree Celsius increase in temperature, even if it did happen, they argue, would still"fall within the bounds of natural variability.” The findings of the NIPCC’s report are"stated plainly and repeated in thousands of articles in the peer-reviewed literature,” the authors say. In fact, they suggest,"forward projections for solar cyclicity imply the next few decades may be marked by global cooling rather than warming, despite continuing CO2 emissions.” Via Breitbart.

Danville Church of God — Sept 13-15 the church, on Fourth Street, will celebrate 70 years of ministry in Danville. 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the guest speaker will be Bruce Rabon, Kentucky State administrative bishop for the Church Of God. Mike Harmon also has been invited to speak. A video of the history of the church will be shown. After the service, the church will have a cookout, pig roast and inflatables at the fairgrounds. The church was organized in 1943 with 26 members on Earl Street and moved to the old Southern States location on Fourth Street in July 1978.
It is an honor for me to attend. The main way we can right the problems of our country is to win people to The Lord and turn our hearts back to Him as a country .
